The American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) is a professional membership organization comprising licensed occupational and physical therapists who specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of the upper extremity (hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder). ASHT continues to be the recognized leader in advancing the science and practice of hand therapy.
ASHT offers a range of membership levels, including:
Active - Open to any registered or licensed occupational or physical therapist, who also holds the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential.
Associate - Open to any registered or licensed occupational or physical therapist or foreign-trained therapist.
Affiliate - Open to any registered or licensed occupational or physical therapy assistant, nurse practitioner, hand surgeon, and other allied health professionals involved in the practice of hand therapy.
Student - Open to students enrolled full time in a basic entry-level occupational or physical therapy program, or who are full-time students in a post-professional doctoral program.
The ASHT is pleased to offer a Companion Clinic Program. The ASHT Companion Clinic Program pairs a United States clinic or hand therapist with an individual in a developing country, providing a unique opportunity to create relationships between therapists practicing under a diverse set of circumstances. Through regular communication, members pursue collaboration, clinical education and professional growth while promoting best practice in the field of hand therapy around the world.
