Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Master’s Program
The new Upper Extremity Rehabilitation program is designed for practicing occupational and physical therapists in search of speciality knowledge and skills in upper extremity rehabilitation. This program will prepare you to provide enhanced patient care for upper extremity injuries and conditions and to seek advanced accreditation and recognition nationally and internationally. This one-year, course-based master’s degree program combines online learning with clinical mentorship opportunities, making it accessible to both physical and occupational therapists.

As part of Western’s Advanced Health Care Practice suite of programs, the Upper Extremity Rehabilitation field of study takes a unique approach to teaching and learning that links specialized clinical practice with critical appraisal of research evidence.

The Upper Extremity Rehabilitation program combines the academic, research and clinical expertise of Western University’s School of Physical Therapy with that of the Roth McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Clinic, a world-renowned centre of excellence in education, research and the diagnosis, care and treatment of patients with complex conditions affecting hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders.

Program Delivery
Course delivery in this program happens entirely online – with the exception of face-to-face clinical mentorship experiences – making it accessible to occupational therapists and physical therapists who are interested in upper extremity rehabilitation. After completing the program, graduates will be able to undertake the comprehensive certification exam to become a Certified Hand Therapist.
