International Profile of Hand Therapy Clinical Practice

The education committee of IFSHT has developed an International Hand Therapy Clinical Practic profile. This document is intended to be a reference document that provides an overview of the 'Practice of Hand Therapy' from an international perspective; outlining the advanced knowledge, clinical practice skills, core competancies and types of upper extremity problems / dysfunction that relate to specialized hand therapy clincial practice. The current profile was reviewed and approved for posting on the IFSHT website at the IFSHT council meeting in June, 2010. 
 
NOTE: Notice of change in the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (USA) policy regarding criteria for eligibility for certification, stating that beginning in 2011, work experience and residency in any country will be accepted to meet the eligibility requirements to take the Hand Therapy Certification Examination. See http://www.htcc.org  for further information.
